Applying for an Australian Student Visa

a) An Offer of Acceptance: Before a student can apply for a student visa, a valid offer letter from a registered Australian institute (university or college) is required
b) English Proficiency: An Ielts score is a mandatory requirement and an evidence of this must be included at the time of application for the Australian student visa. Toefl is not accepted.
If a student obtains a score marginally less than what is required for the Australian student visa, then he/she may opt to take an ELICOS (English Language Intensive Course for Overseas Students) in Australia along with the main stream course. An Ielts test cannot be repeated within three months of previous test.
c) Good Health: Good health is also necessary for Australian study visa. Student should pass the medical test for health. So students applying to study in Australia must satisfy the health requirements specified in the Migration Regulations.
d) Financial Stability: A student must demonstrate that he/she can support his/her tuition and living expenses while studying in Australia. The financial resources that a student need to show to the visa office varies between the different study levels.
e) Debts: To apply for Australian student visa, students must have no outstanding debts to the commonwealth of Australia or have made acceptable arrangements to repay such debt.

i) Student must satisfy attendance and course requirements
ii) Student must not work unless taking permission to do so
iii) Student must remain with the education provider he/she originally enrolled with for the first 6 months of course and if the course is less than 6 months then for the duration of whole course
iv) Student must maintain his/her overseas student health (OSHC) cover while studying in Australia
v) Student must leave Australia before his/her visa expires
